Rockstar Confirms GTA 6's Leonida Is Nearly as Big as GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead 2 Combined
Speaking to Edge magazine, Rockstar says Leonida's landmass is roughly twice the size of GTA 5's map, about three times Red Dead Redemption 2's, and close to all three earlier worlds put together.

Rockstar has finally put a number on just how big Leonida is. In comments to Edge magazine, reported by GameSpot, the studio said the land you can explore in Grand Theft Auto VI comes close to the playable areas of GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 added together.
Two simple comparisons
- About twice GTA V: Leonida's land covers roughly double the area of Los Santos and Blaine County.
- About three times Red Dead Redemption 2: the state is around triple the footprint of RDR2's frontier.

Fan-made comparison overlay. It shows how the three older maps fit inside Leonida's outline.
Size with something to do
Rockstar's message is not only about square miles. Earlier maps used big stretches of mountain or open sea to pad their size. Leonida mixes wild areas with busy towns and cities, so more of that ground should be worth visiting.
Recent promotional shots show that range: a sunset skyline in Vice City, industrial waterways lit up at night, and quiet wetland docks with the city on the horizon.

What it means for players
GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's comments make Leonida its largest map yet, so the outer counties and the Keys should be full places to explore, not just scenery at the edges. You can browse known places now on the GTA6 Navi interactive map.
