EA Founder Bing Gordon Sets 75 Million Sales Benchmark for GTA 6

As Grand Theft Auto 6 approaches launch, industry veterans are weighing in on what commercial victory actually looks like for Rockstar Games after more than a decade of development. Speaking on the Sozzi Unleashed show, Electronic Arts co-founder Bing Gordon laid out his own benchmarks for the title, stating that reaching 75 million units sold would be "mind-blowing."

Gordon derived the hypothetical figure from promotional viewership, estimating that video materials across the internet could have accumulated roughly 750 million impressions. In his assessment, converting roughly 10 percent of that engaged audience into purchasers would define a massive success for Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar.

Beyond unit milestones, Gordon offered a cultural barometer for the launch window: competing directly with holiday television traditions. With the sequel arriving in mid-November, Gordon noted that true cultural dominance would be measured if players choose to dive into Vice City rather than watching football broadcasts on Thanksgiving Day.

Commercial indicators suggest momentum is already building toward historic figures. According to estimates from Sensor Tower, Grand Theft Auto 6 has already logged roughly 7 million pre-orders, accounting for nearly $700 million in preliminary revenue. The tracking firm projects pre-launch orders could climb to 25 million units—approaching $2 billion—before the game hits store shelves.

Independent consumer tracking from Circana similarly shows that approximately one in three console and PC gamers in the United States intends to purchase GTA 6, reflecting record pre-launch purchase intent across modern gaming platforms.
